Evaporator coils are used in combination with split-system air conditioners and heat pumps. The Goodman CHPTA3630C3 indoor evaporator coil is a cased coil with factory-installed thermal expansion valve (TXV) for cooling and heat pump applications. A TXV regulates the rate at which refrigerant flows into the evaporator, adjusting to changing operating conditions for optimum performance. The CHPTA3630C3 can be used with nominal 30,000 (2-1/2 ton) to 36,000 (3 ton) BTU systems. This cased evaporator coil can be installed in a horizontal configuration.
Goodman coils feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil construction. Goodman uses an all-aluminum tube and fin coil with grooved tubing to help maximize heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to withstand potential corrosion. With their galvanized, leather grain-embossed finish, Goodman coils match Goodman furnaces and other indoor components. Each unit features foil-faced insulation on the interior of the casing to reduce cabinet moisture. A split seam is located on the front of the cabinet for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the damaging effects of UV exposure. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a shallow design. Drain pan rails are designed to remove and reposition coils with ease without compromising structural integrity.
The CHPTA series are horizontal evaporator coils, designed to lay on their side, making them ideal for attics and tight crawl space where there is limited vertical space. They are optimized for use with R32 refrigerant.
- Nominal Cooling Tons: 2.5 – 3.0
- Service Valve Liquid Connection Size: 3/8″
- Service Valve Suction Connection Size: 7/8″
- Nominal Width for Gas Furnace: 30″
- Plenum Width: 29″
- Dimensions: 30.0″w x 21.0″d x 21.0″h
Cased evaporator coils are commonly used in new HVAC system installations with a gas furnace. The coil must be properly matched to the outdoor condenser or heat pump to achieve rated performance and efficiency. Uncased coils are typically used when replacing an existing coil into compatible air handler cabinet or plenum.
The 30″ wide by 21″ deep cabinet is designed to simplify installation in a variety of applications, including attic installations. Professional installation by a qualified HVAC technician is required to ensure the system us installed safely and operates properly.
